Multinational company, Dell Technologies (NYSE: DELL) and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to create a hybrid cloud Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Centre at ITE with the goal of improving digital skills development and facilitating AI adoption among small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The VDI Centre can support as many as 80 virtual machines that are accessible through any web browser. It enables students to study from any location without the burden of hardware specifications, promoting more adaptable teaching approaches. Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) removes the requirement for desktops and IT hardware being situated in the same physical location. It allows users to connect to a remote data centre via the Internet or local network, delivering a quick and efficient experience no matter where the student is, and it enables ITE to implement more adaptable teaching methods.

ITE and Dell are combining their innovative and technological resources to train, upskill, and certify ITE staff and students for a workforce prepared for AI Technologies.
Train: Dell will share its expertise in IT infrastructure virtualization and hybrid cloud—critical elements that facilitate AI deployment—to improve ITE's curriculum and educate its staff and students.
Skill: Dell will provide cutting-edge technology infrastructure while working with ITE to design skill-development programs that furnish students with sought-after tech skills. To enhance collaboration with the industry, ITE and Dell will host visitors at the VDI Centre, providing support to SMEs launching industry projects that leverage VDI technology. Furthermore, ITE will run workshops aimed at assisting enterprises in adopting and executing VDI solutions, promoting Technological innovation and growth across industries.
Certify: ITE and Dell are working together to deliver short courses for SMEs centered on obtaining technical certification in fields such as AI and Data Centre virtualization utilizing the VDI Centre. Upon finishing the course, participants will be awarded a Certificate of Competency (CoC) from ITE.
